Billie (Rasheeda) Ali-Seck was an early member of the Abyssinian Development Corp, the Harlem Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) program and was an active member of the steering committee providing leadership and direction to the program. It was through this affiliation that she also became involved in the Harlem Advocates for Seniors.
Background:
Ms. Ali-Seck nurtured and cared for patients for 22 years in the Nursing Department at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She has a passion for supporting older adults with limited physical abilities, women, and various other causes.
She is the founder of the annual Women’s High Tea event (Charlene Draper Wellness Program) and has sponsored this event for 16 years and presents awards to outstanding women achievers. She also invites accomplished women as key note speakers to share their expertise and experience.
Ms. Ali-Seck is a member of the historic Harlem Honey and Bears Swim Team. She also has creative expertise and has facilitated classes at the Hansborough Recreation Center in quilt making, mask making and hat decorations. She also volunteered and enjoyed assisting with arts and crafts classes and other creative activities at Abyssinian Development Corp., Central Harlem Senior Citizens Centers, and the NYC Cultural Affairs Agency. She is a board member for NYC Health + Hospitals/Sydenham Renaissance Health.
