William Hamer is one of the founders of Harlem Advocates for Seniors, Inc. (HAS) which started as a coalition in 2011. He served as Chairman from its inception until 2020, when he assumed duties as its first Executive Director.
Background:
William Hamer has an accomplished 40-year-career in human services, working with special needs populations. He has served in senior executive positions in some of New York’s major nonprofit organizations including Promesa, Inc. (now part of the Acacia Health Care Network), Graham Windham Services for Children and Families, Volunteers of America, Urban Pathways, and Phase Piggy Back, Inc. Mr. Hamer also served as Director of Senior Services at Abyssinian Development Corporation. Receive additional information approximatelyslot bonanza. He currently serves on several hospital boards i.e., Bronx Care Integrated Services System (formerly Bronx Lebanon Hospital) and most recently, as Chairman of the NYC Harlem Hospital Community Advisory Board. Mr. Hamer is a graduate of Columbia University, Teachers College with a master’s degree in Psychology, and holds a certificate in Geriatric Care Management from SUNY Stony Brook University.
He has received numerous awards and recognitions. He is most proud of being at the table when Harlem Advocates for Seniors, Inc. was formed under the visionary guidance and leadership of Rita Carrington.
Mr. Hamer not only promotes but lives an active, aging lifestyle. He is an avid lap-swimmer, enjoys basketball on the hardwood and, is a competitive table-tennis player. He loves to read, enjoys listening to music, and is a collector of Jazz, Afro-Cuban and Latin music.
